A Walk through the History of our Vineyard ~

Enthused, with a dream in mind, we planted our first grapes in 2003.  A 1/4 acre of Cabernet Sauvignon and a 1/4 acre of Cab Franc were the first vines our family planted in the rich Kentucky soil.  We watched with pride as the vines flourished.

The vines did very well and the following year , 2004, we planted a 1/2 acre of Malbec and increased the acreage of Cabernet Sauvignon adding another 1/2 acre.

In 2005 & 2006, we continued to increase our Cabernet Sauvignon vines by adding an additional 1/2 acre each year.

By 2008, we had watched the vines develop into a beautiful vineyard and we decided to add two new varietals.  We planted a 1/4 acre of Merlot and a 1/4 acre of Moscato.

In 2010 we planted 1/2 acre of Sauvignon Blanc.

This year, 2011, we wanted to plant a varietal close to our Italian heritage.  We planted 1/2 acre of Pinot Grigio.

The total acreage of vines in our Grimes Mill vineyard to date is 4 acres.  Enjoying the family unity while planting the vines and seeing positive results in the wines we are producing, we know grandfather Proto would be as proud as we are!  Our goal is to produce an excellent wine with grapes grown in Kentucky and a taste of our Italian heritage & pride!
